A one-day OCLC informative seminar was held in the COBISS centre of the Central National Library of Montenegro on 18 March 2010.
The event was attended by 60 participants. Apart from the members of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Media, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry for Information Society, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, the librarians from the national library, academic and public libraries in Montenegro and related institutions of culture and science had the opportunity of hearing the presentations delivered by eminent library experts.

OCLC SEMINAR IN COOPERATION WITH THE CENTRAL NATIONAL LIBRARY “DJURDJE CRNOJEVIC” Print E-mail

The team from the OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) from Dublin, Ohio, will hold an informative seminar on Thursday, March 18 2010, at the COBISS Centre of Montenegro staring at 12.30.
The seminar will be delivered by eminent OCLC experts, Dr Rein van Charldorp, Managing Director of OCLC EMEA, Eric van Lubeek, Director of Sales and Operations OCLC EMEA, and Vivien Cook, WorldCat Specialist and Regional Account Manager.

Minister for Slovenian Diaspora Visiting the Central Library Print E-mail

On February 23, 2010 the Minister for Slovenian Diaspora, Dr Bostjan Zeks, visited the CNL “Djurdje Crnojevic” at Cetinje. Within his tour of the Historic Royal Capital Cetinje, Minister Zeks, together with H.E. Jernej Videtic, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Montenegro, visited the national library, learned about its work, its organisational structure and the state-of-the-art COBISS Centre.

The activities of Cetinje’s Year of Culture, approved by the Government for the period 2010-2013, have major significance for the historic, state and cultural identity of Montenegro. The Programme envisages town revitalisation projects aiming to tap into the rich cultural heritage of Cetinje and provide for its most advantageous presentation. The full Programme implementation is both a challenge and responsibility of all authorities and institutions of culture involved.

Gift by Nebojsa Bato Tomasevic to the Central National Library at Cetinje Print E-mail

Recently the Central National Library “Djurdje Crnojevic” has received a gift of thirteen editions of the book “Life and Death in the Balkans: A family saga in a century of conflict” published in different languages from its author, Nebojsa Bato Tomasevic. This historical novel speaking of a century of important historic events through the Tomasevic family saga has been published so far in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, France, Norway, China, Serbia, England, United States, Italy, Croatia and Albania.
Madge Phillips Tomasevic translated into English the abridged version of his story and the book came soon to be published. The oldest and most renowned Norwegian publishing house "Askehog” from Oslo promoted the book under the title “Ufred, En slektshistorie fra Balkan”. The book was also published by other renowned publishing houses: Schuyt &Co (the Netherlands), Campus Verlag GmbH (Germany), Hurst&Co (England), Columbia University Press (United States), Lint Editoriale (Italy), etc.  Wherever the book was presented, in particular in Norway, where the event was attended by the Prime Minister and his mother, the antifascist ideas the book is based one were warmly welcomed.
