audiencia_cenlCENL – The Conference of European National Librarians is a foundation aimed at increasing and reinforcing the role of national libraries, particularly in respect of their responsibilities for maintaining the national cultural heritage. During many years of its existence CENL implemented a number of significant projects such as: TEL – European Library, MSAC – Multilingual Subject Access to Catalogues of National Libraries, Europeana etc. The CENL Conference is held annually, each time at the national library of a different country.

DAYS OF IVAN MAZURANIC (1814 – 1890) IN MONTENEGRO 2009 Print E-mail

The international scientific event “Days of Ivan Mazuranic in Montenegro 2009” started on 27.09.2009 by unveiling the memorial bust of Ivan Mažuranić in the atrium of the Central National Library “Djurdje Crnojevic” building. The memorial bust of Ivan Mažuranić, whose poetic wok is an apotheosis to Montenegro, was handed to the town of Cetinje, the people of Cetinje and the whole of Montenegro by Prof Dr Vidoje Vujic, Vice County Governor of the Primorsko-goranska County.
„He spread throughout Europe and the world the best and most beautiful things about the Montenegrin nation, culture and self-identity, and indebted us all to respect and appreciate to this date what he did in 19th century as the people’s tribune, ban (viceroy) and  poet...“, said among other things Prof Dr Vidoje Vujic unveiling the bust of Ivan Mazuranic.

75th CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF LIBRARY ASSOCIATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS (IFLA) Print E-mail

75th IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) Conference was held from August 23rd to 27th in Milan. This largest congress of librarians from the whole world was attended by Jelena DJurovic, director of the Central National Library of Montenegro “Djurdje Crnojevic”. The topic of this year’s event is “Libraries Create Futures: Building of Cultural Heritage“.

Long-standing Cultural Links between Montenegro and the Czech Republic Print E-mail

The richness of cultural, historic, diplomatic and other links between Montenegro and the Czech Republic is lastingly presented in the voluminous literature and exceptional works of art – it is the conclusion of the event gathered around “Cultural Links between Montenegro and the Czech Republic”, held at the atrium of the CNB „Djurdje Crnojevic” at Cetinje organised by the Central National Library of Montenegro “Djurdje Crnojevic” and Matica crnogorska. In addition to the exhibition of original editions and translations by Montenegrin and Czech authors, the CNL “Djurdje Crnojevic” organised also the promotion of two recently published books: by Dr Frantisek Sistek “Our Brothers in the South” and by Dr Miroslav Luketic “Czech and Montenegro”.
