Towards the implementation of the stage II of the Montenegrin Virtual Library project, 14 new libraries signed the Full Membership Agreement for joining the unique library information system COBISS.CG, and these are: 10 public libraries in the municipalities Bar, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Budva, Cetinje, Herceg Novi, Kolašin, Kotor, Nikšić and Pljevlja; 2 specialised libraries –the Library of the Historic Institute of Montenegro and the Library of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro; one higher education library – Library of the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica and one secondary school library – Library of the Secondary Vocational School “Ivan Uskoković” from Podgorica).

The Japanese Ambassador, H.E. Tadashi Nagai signed on 11th December 2007 the Donation Agreement from the Japanese Government with Jelena Djurovic, Director of the CNL “Djurdje Crnojevic“. The Donation Agreement concerns the digitalization of old and rare books and old Montenegrin periodicals from the holdings of the Central National Library of Montenegro.

The annual COBISS conference was held in Maribor from 27 - 29 November 2007, under the title “COBISS – Supporting Intercultural Dialogue (On the Brink of European Year of Intercultural Dialogue)“. The conference was attended by 300 participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo.
Montenegro was represented by 25 librarians from CNL „Đurđe Crnojević“, the University Library, faculty and public libraries.

The Centre of Montenegrin Virtual Library (MVL) operates as a part of the Central National Library ′Đurđe Crnojević′ from Cetinje. Ten libraries have so far been included in the COBISS.CG system. Apart from the Central National Library ′Đurđe Crnojević′ from Cetinje and the University Library, they include most of the higher education libraries and the Public Library ′Radosav Ljumović′ from Podgorica. |
