OCLC SEMINAR IN COOPERATION WITH THE CENTRAL NATIONAL LIBRARY “DJURDJE CRNOJEVIC” Print E-mail

The team from the OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) from Dublin, Ohio, will hold an informative seminar on Thursday, March 18 2010, at the COBISS Centre of Montenegro staring at 12.30.
The seminar will be delivered by eminent OCLC experts, Dr Rein van Charldorp, Managing Director of OCLC EMEA, Eric van Lubeek, Director of Sales and Operations OCLC EMEA, and Vivien Cook, WorldCat Specialist and Regional Account Manager.

The purpose of the session is to get Montenegrin librarians acquainted with OCLC’s domain, and the brief history of the organization. Special emphasis will be given to the WorldCat, the global catalogue including the library contents and services, ranging from the traditional ones to the web-based library services. WorldCat is designed on mutual cataloguing basis and contains over 30 million books in 400 different languages. Also, the OCLC product and services range will be introduced.
The session will be attended by the librarians from Montenegrin context, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Media, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry for Information Society, the University of Montenegro, the University of Donja Gorica and Mediteran University.
