NATIONAL POLICIES AND STRATEGIES TOWARDS HERITAGE PRESERVATION

A meeting of directors and representatives of national libraries from Southeast Europe was held at the National and University Library “St Kliment of Ohrid” in Skopje on 11 June 2010: It was an opportunity to exchange experiences in digitalisation of cultural heritage and present own national policies and strategies for preservation of library materials.

The meeting was attended by Jelena Djurovic, director of the Central National Library “Djurdje Crnojevic”, Cetinje, who had a presentation entitled “Montenegrin Virtual Library” on the method of protecting the library holdings in Montenegro and provision of access to users.
The director of the National and University Library “St Kliment of Ohrid”, Skopje, Mile Bošeski, emphasised that Macedonia constructed a special building with state-of-the-art equipment for digitalisation, as well as the laboratory for protection and conservation of literary heritage.
