Central National Library “Djurdje Crnojevic” participated at this year’s Art Expo held for the fourth time in Budva from 26 May to 01 June 2010. Art Expo is the newest fair event in Montenegro offering the exhibitors the opportunity to promote, present and tap into their artistic creation, while the visitors have the opportunity to communicate with an array of works of arts in the single spot. Art Expo gathers artists and creators from Montenegro and the region presenting their works and attracting great media attention, as well as that of numerous visitors, buyers, art lovers and connoisseurs.

The United States Embassy in Podgorica will mark the “U.S. – Montenegro History Week” from June 21-25, to celebrate 105th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between Montenegro and the USA. The programme contains the exhibition of historical documents, public lectures, a historical conference, a book promotion and a video screening about the history of diplomatic relations between the two states.

NATIONAL POLICIES AND STRATEGIES TOWARDS HERITAGE PRESERVATION

A meeting of directors and representatives of national libraries from Southeast Europe was held at the National and University Library “St Kliment of Ohrid” in Skopje on 11 June 2010: It was an opportunity to exchange experiences in digitalisation of cultural heritage and present own national policies and strategies for preservation of library materials.

The Central National Library “Djurdje Crnojevic” will attend the BOOK FEST – the International Book Fair to be held in Rijeka from 26 to 30 May 2010, at the invitation of the Association of Montenegrins from Littoral-Mountainous County, Croatia. Hence, the Montenegrin national library joined the celebration of 21 May, Montenegrin Statehood Day and the Day of Association of Montenegrins from Littoral-Mountainous County.
